FutureChemistry developed its own procedure for optimisation of chemical reactions in microreactors and offers advice for the implementation of flow chemistry at your company. Desk research
Based on our in-house expertise, knowledge, literature and other resources, we determine the opportunities, challenges and benefits for the development of your process into flow chemistry. Furthermore, this phase includes the reactor design for the process which will be used in the next stage.

     
 

Development flow process 
In this stage the first flow experiments will be performed, using the FlowStart. Since batch reactions and continuous flow reactions require different environments, the development stage must be performed with great care. Ultimately a general process for performing the chemical reaction in a flow system will be developed, including the chemical analysis.

     
 

Process Optimisation
Following the flow process development, a process optimisation is carried out. T
he optimal reaction parameter settings (e.g. reaction time, reaction molarity, ratio) are determined using the FlowScreen, Design-Of-Experiments (DOE) and FlowFit software. As a result a total overview of the reaction’s behaviour in flow systems, and the optimum settings for the next step in which upscaling is achieved.

   
 

Small scale production (<1 kg)
Once the optimal reaction conditions have been determined, these parameters will be translated to our continuous flow microreactor platform for the synthesis of the chemical product on lab scale. Based on customer demand, implementation of the flow process at customer laboratory facilities can be carried out, thereby indicating economical benefits for implementation on production scale.

     
 

Pilot & production scale (> kgs)
Based on the results of the previous steps, the economical potential for implementation on pilot/production scale can be determined. In this phase FutureChemistry prefers to collaborate with one of our partners, Flowid. Flowid supplies micro flow setups, with the engineering expertise for successful implementation of pilot plant and production plants.

     

Moreover as an alternative, our experts offer the service to carry out the implementation of flow chemistry at our facilities. Thereby the problem of setting up flow chemistry in your company is taken out of hands.
